Welcome to term 4. 

Please note school returns on Monday 12thOctober. We hope that all children and families have had an enjoyable holiday.  

This term will see more exciting events, so get your calendars ready.  

Tabloids: We start this term with our kindy and Pre-Primary sports tabloids being held on Wednesday 14th Oct. Parents wishing to spectate are asked to assemble on the oval at 1:00 for a 1:30 start.  

Dancing lessons: The children will participate in dancing lessons every Thursday starting Week 1. At the end of Term 4 parents will be invited to come along to a dance party to see our wonderful dancing skills.If you are yet to pay for you child’s lesson please do so before Wednesday. 

Swimming lessons: Swimming lessons will be held over a 2-week period towards the end of the term. Children will travel on a bus to and from the pools with their class teacher. More information to follow.  

Learning focus: 

Literacy- This term there will continue to be a focus on end blends as well as the introduction of digraphs such as ch, sh and th. Students will be introduced to a new writing style, persuasive texts. We will also have a greater focus on spelling the sight words that we can already read.  

Numeracy- We will be building on the concepts introduced throughout the past 3 terms as well as learning about place value, addition and subtraction word problems and Money.

Mathopoly - like monopoly, but with math challenges. We loved learning this math game.   Blog week   4  We  are well underway with our learning in  T erm  2.  It is encouraging to see many children  farewelling  their  parents with  such  confidence. Super scientist

    Super Scientist Competition   Dear Parents   In Week 5,  th e Year One children have been invited to present a  short science experiment  to their peers. The class will  select  the  top two ‘ super scientists’  and they will move forward to the Year Level Challenge.    Task   •  The children need to research a scientific concept and then deliver a short experiment on this concept to their peers.  •  Each presentation can be  no longer than 5 minutes and a minimum of 2 minutes in length. •  Children can use ICT resources such as MS PowerPoint to support their presentation, in addition to posters, charts etc. All resources must be made by the children and written in their own words.  •  Experiments should be simple to set up, demonstrate an outcome within the time limit and be  SAFE.  •  Children need to explain what they are demonstrating, what procedure they are following, what happens and if they can, why it happened.  •  I would like the children to include some information as t

Welcome

Welcome Hello and welcome to Room 9's blog for 2020. This blog will be a place where parents/carers can log on to see what is happening in Room 9. We will post photos of the students involved in different activities, keep you updated about upcoming events and let you know what we will be focusing on in the classroom. We would like to welcome all the students and parents to Pre-Primary, and a special welcome to all our new students and families. We look forward to working with the parents and getting to know your children better throughout the year. It has been a busy start to the year and the students have done well adjusting to full time school, especially considering some of the extremely hot days we have been experiencing. To ensure your child gets the most out of each school day, please make sure they are getting plenty of sleep each night.
